A step-by-step guide to add my phone to your account using the AKKO mobile app

Whether you are a new AKKO member, or want to protect another item, follow this step-by-step guide to protect your item in no time! These steps will show you how to add your phone to your account using the AKKO mobile app!


Here are the step-by-step instructions to protect your phone using our mobile app!

1 - Download the app!

Head to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and download the "AKKO" app

2 - Login

Using your phone number and temporary password

3 - Add your first item

To add your first item, press "Continue" to proceed to the add item page

3a - Add an item another way

If you've already added an item on our website, want to add another item, or want to add an item later, navigate to the "Items" page using the menu bar at the bottom of the screen and press "Add item"

Step 4 - Pick your item

Select the "Electronics" item category

Step 5 - Enter Item Details

Enter in your phone details as required in order to protect your item

Step 5a - Enter Purchase Details

Enter in your phone's purchase details as required in order to protect your item

6 - Add your phone photos

Note: Be sure to follow all instructions for uploading the photos of your phone so that it is fully protected.

Press "Okay, Ready!" to continue to add photos to your item

7 - Add Front Photo

Press "Take Photo" to continue to add the front photo of your phone using your device's "selfie" camera For more information, see our article

8 - Add Back Photo

Press "Take Photo" to continue to add the back photo of your phone using your device's camera For more information, see our article

9 - Allow for Biometrics

Enabling this permissions allows AKKO only to use biometrics to help you log into your account, and to confirm that the biometrics component on your device is working. For more information, see our article about enabling permissions

10 - Allow Location Tracking

In case your phone is lost or stolen, we use this information to determine where your device is located (to check if it is retrievable), and to confirm its lost or stolen status in corroboration with a required police report.

11 - Allow Motion & Fitness Tracking

In case your phone is lost or stolen, we use this information to determine movement and distance traveled in case of a lost or stolen device. We use this information to confirm its lost or stolen status in corroboration with a required police report. For more information, see our article about enabling permissions

12 - Congratulations!

You've successfully added your phone to your account.

Scroll to the bottom of your item details page to upload a receipt photo so we can reimburse you accurately in the event of damage

Here are some good examples

"Front" Photo: Taken in front of a mirror using the phone's own camera.

Here are some bad examples

  • This photo is blurry, displayed in dark mode

  • It must have a white background, and should be clear and bright

  • This photo is blurry and there is a damaged screen protector

  • Remove the damaged screen protector to ensure the device is not damaged

  • Note: You do not need to remove a screen protector if it is undamaged
